GIVING TUESDAY NOW
Giving Tuesday Now is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. The movement is designed to drive an influx of grassroots generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world. It's a day when we can all come together and give back in all ways, no matter who or where we are.
WAIT House will be spending Giving Tuesday Now with YOU. We'll be posting on Facebook all day, answering questions about WAIT House, giving you tours of our facility and mixing some other entertaining surprises in. We hope you'll support us as part of your Giving Tuesday Now activities. Here are a few ways you can get involved!
- Send us your questions about WAIT House and we'll answer them on May 5.
- Donate to our Giving Tuesday Now fundraiser.
- Head to BOCES on Dix Ave and participate in their Drive-Through Dollar Drop benefiting WAIT House from 10am-2pm.
- Visit our Facebook page and share our content to encourage others to get involved.
- Donate some items from our Weekly Wish List - updated and posted every Monday.
- Visit the Glens Falls Hannaford on Broad Street and purchase some reusable shopping bags. WAIT House has been selected as the May recipient of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the Glens Falls store.
Of course Giving Tuesday Now isn't just about supporting WAIT House. We encourage you to support other businesses operating during this difficult time. Reach out to someone you love, help an elderly neighbor with yard work or make a lawn sign thanking our essential workers. Once you do - tell us about it. We'd love to hear about what you're up to.
WAIT House Relies on Your Support
WAIT House has relied on community support since its beginnings for financial, in-kind, food and goods donations. The Corona Virus outbreak has created new needs and challenges for WAIT House as we work to keep our residents and staff not only safe & healthy but also entertained during social distancing.
If you'd like to help, please review the guidelines and needs below. Of course, we are still accepting financial donations and gift cards which go a long way in helping WAIT House support homeless youth in our community.
At this time, WAIT House is operating under "contact-free" standards and is unable to open our doors for visitors so if you would like to make a donation, please drop it off on our porch located at the end of our driveway at 10-12 Wait Street in Glens Falls, NY 12801. There is a tote on the porch where you can leave your gift. You may also mail your gift to us at the address above.
If you would like more information or have questions, please contact Erin Coon, Fund Development Coordinator, at (518) 798-4384 x. 101 or email@example.com.
Food & Meals
WAIT House is in need of meals to help feed our residents. Currently there are 8 individuals eating full portions and 3 toddlers eating child portions at every meal. WAIT House has relationships with local food banks but as these organizations face increased demand due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are working to subsidize supplies through community donations.
Consider signing up to donate a meal to WAIT House. Use the Meal Train link below to choose your date.
Due to health concerns WAIT House can only accept food prepared in commercial kitchens. With the strains currently on local restaurants, we encourage you to consider ordering take out and delivering it to the shelter. Or, you can give us a call and we'll go pick it up!
WAIT House has two full kitchens for resident use. We are happy to accept recipes and raw ingredients that our residents can use to prepare their own meals. Please make sure all packages are unopened and are not expired.
We are always on the look out for nonperishable items. Cereals, canned goods, pasta, rice and snacks are all welcome.
Fun & Games
Our residents are abiding by social distancing guidelines just like your families. As you probably know, that can sometimes be pretty boring so WAIT House is looking for activity donations like the ones below.
We ask that donations be either new or in good working order and clean.
- Basketballs, footballs, soccer balls
- Board games
- Card games
- Arts & crafts activities

- Hand sanitizer
- Antibacterial sprays & cleaning supplies
- Toilet paper
- Antibacterial Soap
- Facial tissues
- Paper Towels
